44 Henry Rimfire Rifle

I have always wanted an original Henry rifle for my collection but always found them, price wise, to be just a bit too expensive -- until now. This Henry recently became available for a reasonable cost. Serial number 5601 places it in mid-1864 for a manufacture date.

Ditto I always wanted one too since my GG Grandfathers regiment carried them but way out of my price range too. What was the reasonable price you got it for?

Awesome and it's in terrific condition. Had a friend who shot an original (post Y2K). It, along with some ammo, was captured by the Indians from the 2nd California.

That would be huge should I be fortunate enough to locate one of those! Although I think my Henry's serial number is high enough that it would require a 4 piece metal cleaning rod.

Mine is 2541 purchased about 12 years ago. The hickory rod I found later, but even back then very expensive wood

I have been searching for one my entire life. I own a Confederate belt and buckle with loops and cartridges that belonged to a member of the 2nd Texas Lancers. The last one I saw sold for $24,000. For now, I've settled for a later Henry rifle.

Seems like for any auction I've seen for any Henry rifle, the bidding never starts less than $13,000.00.

One of the first details I always look at are the screw slots. The screws on your rifle are undamaged, which is astonishing considering its age. It's almost as if no one has ever been inside that rifle without a fitted gunsmith's screwdriver. It looks fabulous to me. I've never seen one with sling "swivels" attached. That's very interesting.

I love your Henry, beautiful patina as well. Looking at the photos does it have the Henry "bump" below the rear sling swivel? I owned a later one, serial number 8653, about thirty years ago but sold it, another regret.

Yes my Henry has the stock "bump" just below the rear sling swivel. Knowing that I would only ever be able to buy one Henry the stock bump was a must have feature.
