Poking around on here I found this forum.
I have (a copy) of my ggg grandfather George Washington Beal.
I’ve always wondered if that was his gun, or some stock prop from the photographer. I’m interested in ID the gun. (Kind is hoping it’s the Remington-Beals.).
Anyway thought y’all might like it and know something I don’t.

My guess would be a Whitney Navy revolver.

It was called the Herman Meyer hat that was a tropical hat developed by the Luftwaffe and worn a lot by the Herman Goering Division----which BTW fought in Italy.

The Herman Goering Division became a Panzer Division---it wasn't a paratrooper unit. They had Luftwaffe badges made like those of their infantry counterparts. So their Infantry Assault Badge had a Luftwaffe eagle on it. They even had a Luftwaffe Panzer Attack badge which seems like an oxi-moron.

I think my Dad's artillery got a chance to shell some HGD guys.

I have this Squadron Pub book.

Note the one on the left is wearing a tanker's wrap jacket.
Second one is wearing the Herman Meyer hat and last one has SS type camo but their white color flash stood out---white for INFANTRY.
