CWT Fall Muster 2025?

The problem there is how many attend....40-60 be hard to put in one van.........

I'm glad someone brought this up as when I PLANNED Stones River we ended up with 52 people, the largest muster we have ever had. I didn't PLAN on that many folks and it made for some interesting shuffling. I had to add to the room block twice and I could not find a restaurant that could handle that many for our members dinner so I just catered a BBQ in the War Room. With the limited parking at the NMP I looked into the van thing but it was expensive for the 3 days so we just worked around it and put one of my staff as the last car in the convoy to make sure no one got lost.

I enjoy sitting here reading thru all this as we beat this dead horse every year and it reminds me of what Ali said. How ever it goes if anyone needs any insight just let me know.

I never would have guessed Stones River would have gotten the largest turnout.

Would think Gettysburg would potentially be the biggest.....when they did it, it was the first musters. Would assume the site and membership has grown considerably since then.

Definitely, I think that of all the places in the US, Gettysburg no doubt has the most members from a single town on CWT.

Well, here we go down another rabbit hole. I watched Ali's fight with George Foreman at Kinsasha just the other day.

In the eighth round, when Foreman was knocked out and falling to the canvass, Ali wound up his right fist and watched - he DID NOT throw another punch at Foreman. He knew it was over.

I have seen Mike Tyson throw that last punch in his own fights. Unsportsmanlike to say the least.

Ali was the greatest, even when he ran his mouth too much.

Now, if we are going to Northern Virginia this year, someone please tell me where and I will help. Cheers.

Y'all,

For me and others to QM in Fredericksburg/Spotsy the dates in October 1-10 and after that it's bumping up against Cedar Creek 17,18,19, 20. I have to have time for prep for my talk, Demo and game and of course set up early.

I do not know how to set up a vote for the Forum but think it is important for another vote be taken. Other voices should be heard and advise respected.

Or use number 3 or 4 etc. from an earlier vote. We should give sbc ample time to respond if he still wants to do it for Charleston. Heck if I wasn't doing CC I would probably vote for Savannah.

For Spotsytucky out there. You can reveal yourself to me if you would like to at least do a template boiler plate set up for here. If it goes another way perhaps turn over best practices from our wise members. I am serious about a van and see how much an "expert guide" would run me/us. I will not accept any fee for any talking I may do. Again I think a muster keepsake book would be nice touch. I have experience with doing that.

For drivers there is plenty of free parking in the Burg. I am putting forth a Thursday evening to Monday morning event and of course members can peel off early. Catching a train to get to your plane at Reagan on Monday morning would be wise or join all your friends on Saturday afternoon on 95. Life is about choices.

I will just say that last year I did a BGES tour in first part of November ( not to mention that I was stationed at Langley AFB for 4 years). The weather is great and the fall foliage at that time of year is beautiful. I consider it the absolute perfect time to hold a muster in Va. but that just my opinion.TBH, I don't think the weather is much different than the weather at the Murfreesboro muster

While I attended the muster in Gettysburg and Chattanooga. I enjoyed both the musters I went to but I have not been to one since. I had my own reasons to attend both, but will not likely attend this fall unless I find a reason to attend. Because I have been to so many Civil War battlefields it is hard to get up my interest to attend a muster at a site I have been to once, twice, or even three times, especially if I did a bus tour of the site during one of my visits. That said, a couple of the suggestions might perk my interest. So I will go back to watching how this turns out.

October in Virginia should be fine. Weather was good for Winchester in 2023, and has been on several of my past vacations there over the last decade.

I had my own reasons to attend both, but will not likely attend this fall unless I find a reason to attend. Because I have been to so many Civil War battlefields it is hard to get up my interest to attend a muster at a site I have been to once, twice, or even three times, especially if I did a bus tour of the site during one of my visits. Why I never have attended eastern, as my ACW interest is primarily local, or at least local troops.....which not significant Missouri troops in east.

For east would consider Charleston..as it's not really theatre specific to me, as everything stemmed from it. And Getty because its almost 100 miles closer as well it's just Getty....probally most hyped and commercialized battlefield of the ACW.

I have only visited a couple sites in Missouri. My great great grandfather died there. I was 25 miles from the military cemetery he lies in. I now wish I had drove the extra 25 miles.

I agree with this, but I also think that a contributing factor for many people at these Musters is to put faces to the usernames we see here every day.

Okay this seems all a bit ad hoc and I will organize the 2026 Muster. The theme will be Chattanooga and other routes to Atlanta aka Thundering Herd (Sherman et al.) v. Reconstituted, combined units of the CSA, and delaying of the Confederacy. Lots of stories, and I can get a few historians to host tours. I will also be bringing others into the CWT or just the tours for this occasion. I already have most of this mapped out. Western Theater since they deserve 2025 should have this. Let us also make these trips fun!

I am wanting to make a high quality Muster with even times over a Fri to Sun morning of history and friendship. I have not picked a Hotel yet but could be Douglasville, Dallas or other city. Things change through the year so play and stay is still open regarding amenities for hotels etc.
