W.H. Horstmann & Sons

Well how did I do with this W.H. Horstmann & Sons from an estate sale? Any thoughts on this piece would be appreciated. It looks right to me but I'm definitely no expert. Thanks.

It's a real Model 1850 Foot Officer Sword. The kings head mark is that of Solingen blade maker Gerbruder Weyersberg, from whom Horstmann imported many of their officer blades. How well you did depends on what you paid for it.

Then you did do okay. I could see it going for 2 or 3 hundred more in a retail setting.

Thanks, that is good to hear. The estate sale auction used UPS to ship. In my experience UPS is the most expensive. $69...They charged $51 to ship from CA to KY. And they also charged $18 for the box and packing materials.

So I also have two cavalry sabers coming. It is a different auction house and they also used UPS. They are coming from TX to KY and it is $48 but the auction house boxed them up and not UPS.
