Model 1850 Ames Civil war sword? No!

Greetings to all,

I always like sharing nice original pieces… and sometimes… the not so nice (aka… fakes or reproductions)

Anyways, here is a sword that has been listed locally for sale. Some parts look to be real… but the manufacturers logo? I'm gonna have to say, No No No! I could be totally wrong… but I'm assuming this most likely is an old reproduction? I thought I would get confirmation here. No other stamps on the ricasso… only what you see in the one pic.

I'm going to feel stupid if this is an unusual rare and early variant! Grin
