I agree the third digit looks like the lower half of a "5", but this sword could not be an 1858, 1859, or 1853. M1860s were not made in 1853, and although some were made in 1858 and 1859, they were inspected by "J.H." (probably John Hannis} Your sword was inspected by "C.E.W." (Charles E. Wilson). Wilson did not begin his inspector career until 1862. This, together with the fact Ames did not use the arched logo until 1864 (possibly late 1863) make it likely the third digit is actually the lower half of a broken, poorly struck "6". If it is a "5", it was an error - someone picked up the wrong punch.
