It is on NPS land, but there is no easy way to get there. I posted some directions in reply to a similar inquiry on May 26, 2020. The thread was titled "Accessing Zepheniah Taney farmhouse site".

How agile are you? I was just there last December. I parked at Spangler spring, walked to Rock Creek and hopped across some rocks to get over the stream. From there, it's easy to follow the trail up the hill to the farm.

You can see near where I crossed Rock Creek.

Neat! I probably would have fallen in though...if you had water proof boots you could just walk through the water.

Hello, thank for your reply on Taney Farm. Maybe you can answer another question, is the right flanker marker for the 20th Ind in the woods to the right of the monument or down by 17th Maine? Thanks for any information you can provide

Okay, so switching the discussion to over to the Wheatfield.....as far as I know, there are no flank markers for the 20th Indiana monument.

I thought the GBMA required all units to have flank markers. The monument must have went up after GBMA was is charge???

Actually that's not true. In fact, a significant number of regimental monuments do not have any flank markers.

I think what he actually meant was the 27th Indiana. Hard, I know, to keep track of Regimental numbers. Gets me all the time. You're right. The 20th Indiana is in the Rose Field near the Wheat Field/Devli's Den. But the 27th is on Culp's Hill near Spangler's Spring.

They and the 2nd Massachusetts had a rough go of it.

I'm no scholar of this, but my Great Grandfather was a drummer in the 13th New Jersey Volunteers. In the same Brigade as the 27th Indiana and 2nd Massachusetts. So I've become a secondary follower of their exploits as well.

Which is why I'm particularly interested in the Z. Taney house. There is a book, "Reminiscences of the War, Comprising a Detailed Account of the Experiences of the Thirteenth Regiment New Jersey Volunteers In Camp, On The March, and In Battle By Samuel Toombs With the Personal Recollections of The Author Published August, 1878"

(They just don't title books like that anymore, do they?)

A quote from the book concerning their experiences at Gettysburg:

"The enemy threw out a strong line of sharpshooters, who devoted their time to picking off every man whose head appeared above the works. A squad of these men established themselves in a small stone house on the opposite side of the creek, and they annoyed us terribly by their skillful marksmanship. A large number of men were wounded by them; but when they fired at one of the Ambulance Corps - a member of the 27th Indiana - who went to the front for the purpose of caring for the wounded of that regiment lying there, and killed him, the Captain of the battery belonging to the Division was brought down to the line and instructed to open fire on the building. He did so, the very first shot taking effect. In a short time all annoyance from that quarter ceased."

I would like to go see that site.
