Who is this inspector?

I have an L Pomeroy contract musket with an 1844 date on the lockplate. It was carried by Andrew Nash of the 44th Georgia until his death at Antietam. I have included a number of photos that give credence to those facts. However I am confused by an inspectors mark on the barrel which to me is marked ESA and underneath, right where it should be is a letter P in a sunken circle. I cannot find reference in my main source, US Military Flintlock Muskets: the later years by Schmidt for any inspector with those letters. Does anybody know who it might be and where that information was located? Any help is greatly appreciated. H
