He was of Mexican heritage but was very versatile. He played Italian , French , Russian , Bedouin , Greek , Hawaiian , Chinese and Native American characters. As far as Hispanic versus white , the government , if I recall from my days selling firearms , considers Hispanic as an ethnicity under white race. This may have changed.

Well they're called actors for a reason. If they do a good portrayal of a character the actor's ethnicity shouldn't matter. Pakistan made a movie about Muhammad Jinnah the major figure in the founding of Pakistan. They hired Christopher Lee to play Jinnah. Libya made a move about a national hero and hired Anthony Quinn to play the role.

Eli Wallach was actually Jewish, I think,but played a Mexican pretty good. Tuco in the Good, The Bad, and the Ugly then the bandito chieftain Calvera in "The Magnificent Seven".

The actual actors who demonstrated the fastest draw ability in real live. Jerry Lewis and Sammy Davis Jr. Davis could draw a gun at between 4/10ths and 4.5/10ths of a second. He also had very impressive gun twirling skills. Hugh O'Brian drew in 1/4 of a second. But reports state that Lewis and Davis were quicker. O'Brian challenged Audie Murphy but then declined when Murphy accepted but insisted on using live ammunition. Others who demonstrated fast draw abilities were Wally Cox, (The voice of Under Dog), Hugh Downs, Dancer Donald O'Connor, Singers Marty Robbins and Frankie Lane. Other fast draws you might expect were Glenn Ford, (Who had been timed at 4/10ths of a second), Clu Gulager, Clint Eastwood, Jock Mahoney and Ernest Borgnine. Jerry Lewis could also demonstrate very good gun twirling skills.
Other gun enthusiast were Merv Griffith who was a competitive trap shooter, and would routinely practice on his terrace behind his Hollywood Hills home, much to the dislike of his neighbors, and Lon Chaney and Chaney Jr..
None of them were as fast as Bob Munden but he was a freak of nature.

In the movie "Rio Bravo" they set off dynamite by shooting it. Which can't be done by the way. In "The Sons of Katie Elder", John Wayne shoots a can of gunpowder and an explosion is set off.Could that have happened? I'm assuming it was smokeless powder and not Black.

I was watching the latter at my grandparents (if you remember my story on the leftovers thread) and scratched my head about the dynamite. I have seen the movie twice before and forgot all about that.

I agree both are unlikely scenarios I asked the same question on a different forum and am getting opposite replies. So far 3 different people have answered that it can be done.
