The answer is Private Daniel Hough (US) who was killed on April 14th by an explosing cannon during the evacuation ceremonies at Fort Sumter, SC.

This is in dispute. Pvt. Daniel Hough was killed on April 14, 1861 when a shell exploded during the salute signalling the evacuation of Fort Sumter.
Also Col. Elmer Ephraim Ellsworth was killed by a southerner when he attempted to take down the Confederate flag from a hotel in Alexandria, Virginia. I believe either would qualify for the answer since one was not a result of enemy fire but was in fact a casualty of an accident while the other was from a shooting by an enemy.

I have the answer to todays question. The question. Who was the first soldier killed in the Civil War? my answer: His name was Daniel Hough he was a private. he was killed by accident during the 21 gun salute after the fall of fort sumner.
