I've been scratch building civil war ships starting a couple years ago. They are primitive rustic and can be played with. So far I have assembled 35 ships all but a few are ironclads. Here is one, USS Dictator. It was built in 2020 and is 7" in length,

I've been contemplating of reworking by adding more details.

You said they can be played with, but you didn't say who plays with them.

One of the joys of having kids in the house is getting down on the floor with them and rediscovering the joys of your youth. I would have loved to have played with one of your monitors, and the idea that they are "playable" verses a to-scale vessel that's only good for looking at is what makes them charming-and builds childhood memories. I would think shag carpeting would make a great ocean.

Well done on so many different levels!

Booner, you've read my mind. I have no kids in the house now. And my grandkids live away. There was a guy who made wood ships in the town I lived as a kid. And he would randomly give them away. I do the same, my wife has asked me why I do that. Knowing the joy that I can inspire like Santa is worth it's weight in gold.

It's nice to be a Santa and practice random acts of kindness.

I imagine that some of the kids who play with your ships are a little confused: "where do you put the batteries?"
