Union EM's Buckle

Thanks again all. I collect Third Reich items as a hobby, many fakes there also. SS items are highly faked, if I'm not getting a item from a veterans family or a very trusted source I'll pass on it. The same would apply to CW collectibles as most of you know.
Dave Taylor, great ACW dealer in Ohio, once told me that if you are not sure, "either get help or don't pay more than the cost of a happy meal."

Dave Taylor helped to identify a reproduction buckle for me. I emailed him my photos and he kindly replied. I ended up buying a nice original from him. Maybe you could contact him for an opinion as well? http://www.angelfire.com/oh3/civilwarantiques/

I also replied to your post on the WAF. I was going to add that you should post your photos here also. Very knowledgeable and very helpful CW collectors here!

Thanks Package and Frank,

Email sent to Dave T. I'll post any info. I get.

I have to agree with @Package4. The first thing I saw was no bend in the tongue.

Dave Taylor gave me his opinion and I'm pleasantly surprised.

"The buckle is genuine. It is one of a very few wartime patterns that utilized a flat prong on the back. Most replicas have flat prongs, most originals have beveled prongs... yours is absolutely proper even with the flat prong."

That's great, I'm glad it turned out to be authentic.

Congratulations! Glad it's authentic, Dave is the go to for Federal Buckles.
