Just found another Union vet

A few years back I managed to find an ancestor on my father's side who served in the Union army. I was ecstatic, but figured he would be the only one. My mother's side of the family had no one here before the twentieth century.

I got back into searching the other day and was lucky enough to find another. He had a cousin who sadly was lost in the siege of Corinth. I have only located basic information on him, thus far, but I hope to dig up more soon. Maybe even a photograph. Just wanted to share. I'll post any updates.

Perhaps this is a redundant suggestion on this forum, but have you contacted your local SUVCW Camp? They are often more than willing to help with the hunt for records and such.

Not yet, but I have considered it. That could certainly be of help. I live outside of Flint, and there is a chapter here.

Not yet, but I have considered it. That could certainly be of help. I live outside of Flint, and there is a chapter here.

Most camps/departments have a genealogy officer to help track lineages down for "proving up". It's a good organization, and always looking for more interested people—descendants or otherwise. Greetings from the Department of the Columbia.
