I have seen this as Co. B, 170th NY Infantry.

Is there a date for the photograph? Also is this supposed to be the 1st Michigan Three Month Regiment or the 1st Michigan Three Year Regiment? It is not the 1st Michigan Three Month Volunteer Infantry Regiment. Their Detroit made roundabouts had shoulder epaulettes and they wore dark blue trouserss. Also the caps are different. I know less about the 1st Michigan Three Year Infantry Regiment. Most of their uniforms came from the federal government.

Following Toccoa's example I looked around a bit and it is listed as the 170th New York. Dates of service ran from Oct. '62 - July '65.
