Can someone please identify this object? It is metal and slightly smaller than an egg, but similar in shape. It weighs almost 31 grams and is not magnetic. Is it a projectile of some sort? idk. Thanks for your time.

Agreed. And to my knowledge, neither grapeshot nor canister was oval.
I see that now that I'm on my big screen. I was on my phone and you know I'm blind in 1 ear:bounce: and can't see out the other one. :cold: :D

Heavy, non-ferrous. Any hint of green (suggesting bronze/brass alloy)?

The only other metal that comes to mind is lead, and pure lead is soft. Fishing weight for Herman Melville's Captain Ahab (Moby Dick)?

Whether metal or stone, the shape reminds me of a sling bullet. Typically, I believe a sling bullet would be made from stone or lead and more of an elongated (American) football shape. Bronze or brass doesn't sound like it would be a sling bullet. Being found in North America doesn't sound like it would be a sling bullet. Being found in South America perhaps it is a bola weight. It might be helpful to know the find context.

I have two stones that look very much like that. One is egg-sized and the other a bit bigger. At first I thought they were man-made, but now I know they are just rocks that tumbled in water.
If yours is not stone but metal and non magnetic, it would seem like the only other possibility would be copper. Native Americans did sometimes make things out of that. Like Joe W. said then it would conduct electricity.
