Hi everyone,
Thanks to everyone that offered help with my quarter plate image but now I have found something even rarer, again!
The officer's circlet
The first one found was embroidered and had a construction like most hat badges. This one though is the false embroidered type like smith pattern shoulder boards. I have only ever seen one other and it was beyond rare belonging to a California cavalry officer.
This second one is the same as the first for a captain of infantry. False embroidered rim set into a pin. The T bar is missing but the clasp is still there, albeit bent but present.
