Looks like i finally got my wife onboard with a Franklin trip in March or April of the coming year. Besides the house and battlefield tours (any suggestions on those as well) that I'm so excited to finally do are there any other must sees (locations, buildings etc.). I'm a bit of a foodie so any recommendations on that (especially BBQ) would be appreciated.

I recommend that you end your day at Arrington Vineyards. In the evening they have a bonfire. You can watch the sundown from there. The winery is owned by country star Kicks Brooks. It is not your coastal stuck up kinda experience, it is genuinely a, "Tennessee Ya'll come!" kind of experience.

Besides a wide selection of wines to taste & enjoy, they have cheese, sausages, crackers & picnic supplies.

Delvin Farm Market could not be more conveniently located for purchasing a picnic for a trip to the vineyard across the road. It is a family place. The market building was a tobacco barn.

They carry the excellent Hatcher Family Dairy products. Located not very far from Arrington, you can know all about it from their documentary series.

CIVIL WAR HISTORY

The Pioneer Brigade & Engineers of the Army of the Cumberland were busy as beavers January / June 1863. They secured the bases at Nashville & Murfreesboro with a triangle of fortifications)+/-) 40 miles on a side.

While you are enjoying your wine & cheese. Take a good luck at the ridge line to the northeast.

I know this doesn't look like much, but it is the six gun battery in the lower left of the map.

Untouched, 3 miles of earthworks, including stone faced redoubts, are hiding amongst the trees.

Similar to this bastion at near by Fortress Rosecrans, the Works at Triune held General Granger's 10,000 man Reserve Corps.

The A of the C's Reserve Corps flags were of a singular design.

The intersection at Arrington is where Schofield's wagon trained turned north toward Nolensville & safety.

Had Hood followed closely behind Schofield's retreat, a ready made fortress lay empty. & waiting. Even Hood would have thought twice about clambering up that slope.

Note: I live in Murfreesboro, feel free to contact me when you all get closer to your departure date. Springtime in Middle TN is glorious.

My Franklin foodie friend recommended this website for "non-franchise dining" as he calls it, in Franklin.

I'll give you a couple of very good restaurant picks while you're there.
Coal Town Pizza on Front St in Franklin is amazing.
For great homestyle food, drinks and live music you have to go to Pucketts Grocery right in town.
Maybe after you visit Carnton, The Carter House, Rippivilla ( take the tours with the BOFT) the Lotz house and Winstead Hill take the short trip into Nashville and hit the bars on the strip for great food, drinks and live music of course. You also should try and catch a show at the Ryman, such legendary music history there. Bars that my wife and I have been to and enjoyed good food, drinks and great music:
Ole' Red, Casa de Rosa, Whiskey Row and AJ's Good Time Bar.
All fun stops. Hope you and your wife have a great time!

Looks amazing and we do plan to spend time in Nashville (never been)
Some spots we visited during our trip down in June.

Plenty of other spots to visit are also mentioned in the thread.

I heartily second Rhea's motion. The Antebellum Red is to die for.

just a few hous n the evenings
Roger that. That will eliminate some Civil War sites from consideration...Fort Negley, Nashville National Cemetery, Mount Olivet Cemetery and Nashville City Cemetery for example.
