Oh no!! Could the census guy have asked someone? I'm not sure that was part of his official duties, either. Hoping no one has occasion to look the guy up for their family tree!

That does bring up something that's always bothered me. One's paper trail - which is often all your descendants have to know you by - quite frequently presents a picture that is definitely not who you were, and no way to explain...! Now, in this day and age where nobody writes a letter or diary, wonder how the electronic trail will work out.

This is hilarious. I just found out a couple of days ago that I actually have a Union ancestor. His name was George Caleb Prusia, Cpl., Co A, 24th Iowa Infantry, aka the "Temperance Regiment".
