What are your thoughts/experience with the finished trousers (not blanks) from ACW Kits? I know they (Tart) are second to none on fabric and cloth but how are the finished pants?

I would like trousers made by W&W but I cant wait 6 to 8 months.

IMO W&W are the best in the business and most of my garments have come from them but I can understand not wanting to wait. Nothing wrong with going with Tart though, he'll make you a decent pair of trousers and super nice guy. I bought a commutation jacket from him I needed for a campaigner event I decided to attend on short notice. He had something that worked for the event in stock in my size and got it within a few days. Really nice jacket, all hand sewn topstitching, that I use whenever a depot issue jacket doesn't work. Not sure though on his trousers if you can get all the visible stitching hand sewn, keep that on mind and ask when you order if they are CS trousers. Alot of the stuff I've seen he's made is machine sewn except the button holes.

Ok thanks, Ill keep that in mind, I'll get in contact with them and ask some questions.

I have a sack coat and shirt from WW. It's worth the wait. Curious, have any of yall bought from Capital District Arsenal? I bought a pair of US army trousers from them, and they're the best I've come across. My bro bought a sack coat and mule ear army britches from them and they are incredible. Of course they don't do Reb gear that I've seen. Thoughts?

Thanks friends, I would want them to be made by W, W & Co, but they currently have a 9 month wait. Im also considering K. Windahl as he did a jacket for me and does great work, but he is 6-8 months as well.

The Tart garments look good on their website, Im also considering possibly purchasing a blank kit from Tart and completing the trousers myself.

Wambaugh and White sell kits as well. I've always gotten kits from them within two weeks or so of ordering.

I don't think you can go wrong with either. I ordered a confederate frock coat blank from Ben Tart years ago and was happy with the purchase and the instructions.

I've gotten to the point where I've been sewing clothing for the fun of it rather than for actual reenactment purposes. Work and young children and the dissolution of my old group have sidelined me over the past few years. It'll be good to get back into it once I can find a unit here in Louisiana.

Im in Louisiana as well, where are you?

Most of the groups I know of here are artillery or too mainstream for what I am looking for, I'm trying to find a group myself.

You might want to ask W&W specifically what the wait time on trousers are. In the past they've usually come quicker than jackets. If I remember correctly Brian does the trousers and Dan the jackets/coats. He cranks the trousers out pretty good. Been a few years since I ordered anything though so it may have changed. A kit is an option as well if you're thinking of finishing them yourself.

I did ask Dan this yesterday and he said 7 - 9 months. Ill have to think about what to do.
