Just started my October, 2015 Naval History magazine. One of the letters contained the following info:
NH published an extensive article, with cover painting, of the monitor Miantonomoh's trip to England in 1866 last spring. The author, Howard Fuller, writes that a distant relative of the ship's CO had contacted him after publication. The CO had kept a 200 page journal of the trip, including a cutaway of the ship, and the correspondent had the journal!!!! The owner is planning to donate the journal to the Mariners' Museum/ Monitor Center.
I still have dreams of "my" missing data showing up some day.
