What did **** mean in the confederacy? Was it directed at all non whites or just blacks. Did confederate leaders see racial inferiority as a permanent condition or something that could be overcome. Was there competition between **** an white nationalism being the prevailing view among confederates?.
I ask these questions because in the media coverage we hear of the confederacy and **** but hear little input from the historians. And I am not bashing the media they operate under time constraints and must cover many subjects.
