!!The 2 rivet scabbard!!

Here is an example of the 2 rivet scabbard

Thank you for your information. When I am Reenacting I typically carry a 53 Enfield with the Enfield Scabbard and Frogg ( the only British accoutrement I carry) . I do have the 7 rivet scabbard as well, I portray a Confederate and Federal Unit. I am just trying to find more information on what the proper accoutrements to own and carry. Would the Enfield Scabbard and Frogg for Confederate?

Also the British scabbard usually came with an accoutrement set so unless you are also using an English cartridge box cap box and belt it's not quite right not to say it was never used solo. I think a 2 rivet scabbard is a good choice if you only have one for both impressions. Just to see the options check out the Missouri Boot and L D Hanning websites, they both offer several options of both US and CS scabbards.

Another option which I did, our unit is primarily CS but we do galvanize Union quite often, I spent a bit more money getting a good sewn CS scabbard with a tin tip then picked up the standard sutler 7 rivet scabbard to go Union which are pretty inexpensive so I think that covers both sides pretty well without breaking the bank.

The two rivet is appropriate for early war events and the seven rivet would be for mid to later war escapades. Confederate scabbards would be sewn and not riveted unless captured or appropriated from northern supply. There are always exceptions to the rule.

I do not believe the seven rivet scabbard made its appearance until 1863

To just add a bit to Package4s' post.
Confederate bayonet scabbards are very rare, even more so with the bayonet for which it was made. All had seams down the back flat. The 3 which look similar were most likely a Richmond product. The one with the loop top had a Lorenz bayonet in it, and a super funky pewter tip.

The tips were mostly tin or pewter. Very rarely was brass used.

As always most humbled with not only the LP's knowledge, but the actual pieces that support it, I can not find an emoji to express this.........
