None. Valverde was their first battle.

How many officers were in the Texas unit?

Most cavalry companies had three line officers -- Captain, First Lieutenant, and Second Lieutenant. Sometimes the Confederacy got weird and stuck Third, Fourth, and Fifth Lieutenants in there, too.

At Valverde the attempt to charge with lances failed pretty quickly, the men discarding the lances during the action and afterwards, as useless.
