Starr DA Army .44 Database?

I recently acquired a Starr 1858 DA Army. As I indicated in my introductory post, it's all matching numbers, and very close to functioning properly. The hand spring is broken off at the attachment point, and it is proving to be very difficult to remove the stub. I STILL have 2 stuck screws, and I don't think that the nipples will ever come out of the original, matching cylinder. One of the stuck crews is the rear screw for the trigger guard, and the other is the hinge screw. Neither screw is keeping me from getting it apart for repair. I have sourced reproduction parts and screws from several sources. The takedown screw is the only one I have had to use, so far.

I'm trying to gather as much information as possible about this particular revolver.

Do any of you fine folks know of any database that gives year of manufacture by serial number? I'm not opposed to buying a book or paying to download, so long as it actually contains the information I'm looking for. I'd hate to spend a wad of money, only to find nothing pertaining to my interests.

Wiki cites Marc Wade. "Starr Revolver Week 3". Armscollectors.com [retrieved 2013-02-20] for @23,000 1858 Double Action .44 Caliber Percussion Army Revolver produced between 1862-1863 so I'd guess that just by Kentucky windage your #4460 has got to be within the first half of 1862.

Note the professional speculation with this 2nd Model SA

And in case you don't already have this nifty reference schematic

Thank you. I've seen the "Starr Revolver Week 3" article, however, I've not seen the "Antique Arms" listing. It references a series of books that may actually have the information I seek, but they don't come cheap. I'll have to save up for a while (3 or more years). When I got my Karmann Ghia so many years ago, it for less than the cost of the set. Just one of the books costs more than my revolver did. LOL

You're welcome.
Unless someone comes up with monthly production reports from the Starr facility, I doubt you'll find anything more definitive.

Switching gears, no idea if it'd fit/function but it's a question worth asking - will the Pietta Single Action cylinder work in an original DA?
It will require fitting. I bought one, and it does not fit, as is. The whole thing is a hair too long. Without measurements, the rear of the cylinder looks right, so I'd likely have to trim some off of the front of the shaft.
