Hello to all, I am new to this forum. Like most collectors when I started out many many years ago. I tried to stay in a specific area, like pistols or rifles or just WWII era firearms. Well we all know how that turned out. I tried for years not to go below Spanish American War firearms. Well here I am trying to learn all about black powder cartridge firearms and the Civil War. I have accumulated a few firearms of the period but basically stumping around with little knowledge so I thought this would be the best way to learn and maybe be able to help others with some of my 50 years of firearm collection. I am looking at a Spencer .56-50 carbine with a serial number 11534. This I believe was probably in the first lot of carbines sent to the Union in 1863. If anyone has any historic information on this serial number I would really be interested to know all I can about this carbine.
