We are an independent lot aren't we lol But as I recall I think there were quite a few loyalist units from your neck of the woods composed of Scots-Irish...

The vast majority of Patriots from SC were Scots-Irish but the majority of Loyalists were composed of the same. It was brother against brother at times. Some switched sides at least once. Strange thing, after the Rev. War most of the Scots-Irish Loyalists didn't leave the area, at least the ones not known to commit atrocities. Some were burned out and forced to leave though.

I think the descendants are in Alabama. :)

Sounds like S. Carolina was like upstate NY during the Rev, it was truly the first Civil War with brother against brother and neighbor against neighbor..Does up have an upside though, they fled to Canada and most settled around Niagra Falls and created some truly charming places that we can visit today lol
