Todays's newsletter from NEGHS includes a link to the Fort Smith (Arkansas) Community History Archive: http://fortsmithlibrary.advantage-p...=01/01/1848-12/31/2019&bcn=1&m=between&ord=k1 This archive contains a number of newspapers (the oldest of which, the Fort Smith Harald, goes back to 1848). I have no family from that area so I had no specific personal name upon which to search, but when I entered the keyword "Confederate," I had 4 pages of hits.

Nice! Thanks for sharing. Newspapers are often overlooked as a genealogy tool but I've found they have tons of info - if you are willing to be patient and look for it.
