We have several days left for recipes this week. Always can use Bread Recipes and Hot Beverages. Also remember Thanksgiving is fast approaching. Also with this cold weather in many parts of the country soup or stew recipes be good to post.

The boss says I can post some of her and her father's recipes.so let's start with:
PUMPKIN CHEESE CAKE

1 1/2 cups of ginger snaps. (About 38)
1/4 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup melted sweet butter
Crumble cookies and mix with the pecans and butter and place in 9" spring form pan.

4- 8oz.packages of cream cheese softened
1 cup sugar
3 TBSP flour
1-8oz. Tub of sour cream
1 - cup of mashed pumpkin
1 - TBSP pumpkin pie spice
1- tsp vanilla
4 - eggs add one at a time
Mix all the ingredients till you get a smooth consistentcy.
Bake at 325 degrees 1 hr 15min. Till almost set
Loosen from rim - cool - refrigerate at least 4hrs. Or better overnight.

If you are able you can bake the cheesecake in a water bath but if you have never done it before it is not advisable as its a good way to get scolded.

Another recipe she makes for the holiday's is AMBROSIA. When she makes this everyone forgets about the pies and fight over it.this recipe is for an average size but she normally triples it.

1 - large can fruit cocktail drained.
1-15oz. Can crushed pineapple half drained.
1 - can of mandarin oranges drained.
1-16oz. Sour cream.
1 - can shredded coconut or 1/2 a bag.
1-1/2 bag mini marshmallows (I prefer the whole bag).

Mix all of the above and refrigerate and stir every hour, chill for at least 6hrs.

She doesn't mind since her father passed over 30 years ago and her brother closed his bakery in Boca Raton and nobody bakes anymore so someone else can use them and pass them on.bakeries nowadays only use pre mixes or frozen bake offs.

It is nice to share family recipes. I like to send them to friends. Usually for Christmas I send a couple in our Christmas cards.

This year I have sent a pumpkin cheesecake recipe I got from a Kentucky magazine in a few of my Thanksgiving cards. A friend wrote me that she has to bring dessert for Thanksgiving for her father's get together and will make the pumpkin cheesecake recipe I sent her. It is just a great feeling to know I am contributing to their Thanksgiving dinner.

That's nice.good tradition.

Ambrosia! Do love that. Hope to have some for Thanksgiving. Mom used to use just the cream from our cows - that hardly needed whipping or sugar - and was it ever gooooood! :hungry: Never thought about sour cream - bet that would really bring out the fruit flavors.
