Recreated Smoked Ox Tails

Growing up, we would have ox tails and tongue for dinner on several occasions. It is difficult finding either; and there are no nearby restaurants with them on the menu. Indeed. I dwell in a culinary wasteland.

I agree about the culinary wasteland! Shoot, it's even difficult to find a restaurant with Liver & Onions! I can find beef tongue at some grocery stores, but it is way too expensive now!

Love liver and onions. They are hard to find anymore.
Reading this post made me recall that I hadn't eaten liver and onions in years. Since I just recently moved to a new neighbourhood here in Edmonton, I am not that familiar with the local restaurants. i did a search on liver and onions and was quite happy to discover there is a family diner just a few blocks away that serves this meal. So, I ran out and tried them. It was a pleasant dining experience, and I will be back. And just to make things better, they have it as a weekly special!

I grew up eating ox tail stew. Now I can't afford it. (For the price you pay for oxtail with all its bones, you might as well spend a little more and get more meat).
