Tell me more! Sharps Carbine Identification Help

Hi everyone Happy Easter! Just purchased this Sharps Carbine, was hoping to get some more information on it? As seen in the picture it is number C, 28758. I believe it was a Veteran Volunteer deployment from the research I've done but I hope someone with the SRS book can help me confirm that, or if they can identify if there's records of someone having it or any other additional information! Also, there seems to be a part missing on the side, it's the hole on the last pic. Would anyone happen to know the name of it so I could find one for purchase?

Is there a range between other ones of possible destinations? Also do you happen to know what part is needed? I'm having a little trouble understanding their graphic and their codes
