shaler bullet?

would this be the bottom part of a Shaler Bullet?

Not part of a Shaler. The Shaler was .58 caliber and this appears too small. It looks to be a picket bullet. Measurements would be helpful. Interesting little bullet.
 
It was like .38 but if it was shot it would of dulled it out. it also has the same rim as the end of a shaler bullet. it came in three pieces. we could not find the others.
 
A fired Shaler would still be about .58. I believe it is a picket bullet for a .38 rifle and not a section of a Shaler bullet.
 
Hmmmmm. I have look everywhere for the answer on a picket bullet and I haven't found it yet because it is hollow in the inside.

Dean Thomas' Round Ball to Rimfire Volume III has a chapter on picket bullets beginning on page 278. Most have solid bases but there are some with cone cavities. Volume I has a chapter on Shaler's Patent Sectional Bullets beginning on page 193.
