Thanks for the comments on this. I have that photograph and had put it far back in my mind. I started looking at it again today and found this thread on a Google search. His file is a hot mess, but might make for an interesting story, if I can read enough of the writing on the documents and maybe dig into his gnealogy a bit. For snyone interested, he is buried in Dayton, Ohio, so my guess is he was in the Soldier's Home there, though I will look into that. His headstone is on find-a-grave
