I recently picked up 5 albums of a large well to do family from New York. There are a number of families and each album is a branch of the tree. The one album that has every person identified is of the CAMP family. Many of them are famous (Walter Camp - Father of Football) and they had a great deal of famous people they knew in the album, many abolitionists, poets, writers, etc. This one below, I just cannot decipher their scribble. I can make out Patrick or Patricks but not the first name, and is it the soldier or the old man?

Wow, I would have never figured it out. Much appreciated. Yep, maybe it was one of the Camp family that was in the war. Some of these CDV's were produced from 1839 Daguerreotypes. That is the date on them. And that is when the first dags were being produced in New York.
