Searching for an appraiser.

Hello all,

I have been having a hard time finding an appraiser that is able to find information on what I'm told is a rare musket. I live in Pennsylvania and thought Gettysburg would be helpful but I've hit a wall. Attached are some pictures, I was told one was made by a Pennsylvania gunsmith and there is only one other survivor and it's in a collection near Pittsburgh. If I had any idea what this gun is I could possibly find the other owner. Thank you for any information y'all may be able to give.

Welcome! That's a nice collection! Unfortunately, I can't help you find a reputable appraiser. Have you tried any of the major museums- Smithsonian, Franklin Institute- to at least get more information and an idea of rarity?

I have not looked into the museums, I never thought of that. I always knew the guns existed and I remember my grandpa telling me some things about them but unfortunately I was young and I don't remember enough. Thank you so much for your insight!

As WJC says those are nice pieces. Civilian pieces to my eye (one looks to be a target rifle and another a double barreled shotgun) but I am sure the true experts will be along shortly.

They are being professionally restored as soon as I find someone trustworthy. They have not been in my possession long and live in the gun room with the others.

Lanyard Puller told me about a reputable guy that sells stuff and also does appraisal work. As I recall, he charges a minimum fee of about $75 for appraisals. Anyhow, here is his website: www.denner.ca Maybe he can help.

If Baltimore isn't too far to travel to you might consider taking them to the Baltimore Collector Arms Show in March. I'm sure you will be able to find multiple folks who can assist you.
I am not very familiar with civilian arms of similar vintage of yours, but the double rifle is quite interesting.

Which one is the one you were told is rare? From the condition I see in your photos I would take some Murphys soap clean the stocks up and mount them on the wall.

I was told the double barrel on the bottom was the rare one.
