Just for the hell of it, I ordered the new book by Dr. Jack Allen Meyer called Arming South Carolina The Weapons of the Palmetto Armory and the State Military Works. To start off with, most of the information is simply regurgitated from other publications. His serial number list in the back is also reprinted from Robert Sieglers book (which is pretty well done and fairly comprehensive on the SC State Military Works and Morse firearms).
OF NOTE in his serial number list, he has mentioned a gun (which I own and have for MANY years) that he has NEVER seen at any point, and declared it to be "probably a reproduction". Mind you, it was purchased many years before any of the reproductions were made, and I've had it completely apart. It is in no way shape or form a reproduction. There are some guns listed in the Morse rifle/musket section that are reproductions which he has failed to mention despite being advised that they're such.
Do yourself a favor and save yourself the money. Picture included to show that I have a rough idea of what I'm talking about
