I'm researching my great-great-great grandfather and his involvement in the civil war.
His full name is William Aaron Whittaker Sr. and he served with the 11th Battalion Virginia Reserves, Confederate Army. I was wondering if anyone has any information, could find any, or point me in the direction to find some. I was also wondering about the 11th Battalion Virginia Infantry Reserves. The only pictures I have are below, thank you!

Thank you so much for these! Yes, that is him! I believe the reason he was in the reserves is because he was in his late 40's when he enlisted. My mistake for forgetting to include his birthday which is 10/19/1817. Is there a way to see what battles, if any, he actually participated in and also any way to find a picture of him in uniform?

How wonderful that you have such a good write up about your family history! It's rare to find a document that lists which battles a soldier fought in. However, pension applications sometimes have good information. Do you know if he got a pension?

The only Information I have is a index card from a muster roll that @Taylin sent above, and there is nothing listed for "Payed" so I assume he never got a pension.

I looked at the Virginia pension index and did not see him or his widow there. Was he living in Virginia late in his life?
He was born in Giles County, Virginia but was a resident of and had almost all of his children in Mercer County, West Virginia. Giles and Mercer are right beside each other so I think it's some location mishaps due to the forming of WV. He was definitely a citizen of WV after the war, 100%.

West Virginia didn't issue pensions to CSA veterans so there won't be a pension application to find.

As it happens I have spent the last several weeks doing a family tree for my brother-in-law who is from Giles County and many of his kinfolks have moved back and forth across the state line.

Ah right, there would be no Confederate Pensions from a Union State. I'll try and dig a little deeper and see what I can find. Could you link me what you use to look through pension records?

Pensions for US soldiers are at Fold3 and/or Family Search. Confederate pensions are kept at the state level and each state has a different system for them. Some you can easily find and see, others you cannot.
I see. He fought for a Virginian Regiment but was a Citizen of West Virginia so I could see how that could add some difficulty's in filing for pension. If it might help, he had one, not two widows. Margaret Ann Whittaker (Madden Name Crotty) as well as as Eliza F Whittaker (Madden either Parker or Hale).
