I'm looking at this musket and was hoping to get opinions on the front sight.

According to Moller, "the original brass front sight was removed from the upper band's rear barrel ring and the new iron sight was riveted and soldered to the front ring." (P. 48)

that appears to be the case with this example, but both are missing. These are the best pics I have. Thoughts on purchase and possibly finding a replacement. I didn't find options online.

You could always shape one out of low carbon steel, tin the area, then rivet the sight, then heat the solder to melting.
Never seen one of those front sights for sale either.

I don't believe that there is a ready made replacement, but it wouldn't be a big project for a competent gunsmith. Lodgewood Mnfg would be my suggestion.
Remington-Maynard alterations aren't particularly scarce though. Unless this example is exceptionally cheap I would be inclined to save the money and buy a better, complete, example.

That makes sense. I wasn't really familiar with these and saw this one. I started reading up on it and it really piqued my interest. This type seems pretty significant with many seeing action around the start of the CW. How does this sight look?
