Changed my birthday more than once.

My first reenactment was at age 13 (or 12, can't remember precisely). There were a whole host of battlefield "jobs" not open to me then that would be now. I gave up trying to explain away the aging and just threw out the old "me" altogether

I walked into a KFC dressed for WWI accompanied by a fellow dressed as a Confederate to bring lunch back for a Living History Time line. The older woman cashier at the counter didn't bat an eye and made a comment about him coming in for some "down home style fried chicken, must be a nice break from hardtack and beans."

It's too bad there aren't any naval reenactments. I'd much rather spend my time aboard ship, even on one from the ACW period with all its lacking comforts, rather than sitting in some hole in the ground or slogging through mud like the army guys.

I agree. Navy is vastly under represented.

You bump your head enough times and eventually it becomes second-nature to walk around hunched over anywhere below the maindeck on early-modern ships

I'm six two. I hunch over if there is a cabinet open in the kitchen.

Last time i ate at a McD's (some 40 years ago), the food tasted like it had been cooked in the 1860's!
