I realize this isn't pertinent to the ACW, but reenactors in general will find it funny.

It's too bad there aren't any naval reenactments. I'd much rather spend my time aboard ship, even on one from the ACW period with all its lacking comforts, rather than sitting in some hole in the ground or slogging through mud like the army guys.
I respect what you're saying, Sea Turtle, but I have to be honest: You could not get me into the Monitor or the Hunley. Way too much like being trapped in an MRI machine with somebody trying to kill me. 😱

I was thinking more of "conventional" ships like the Shenandoah or Alabama, not those hotbox ironclads  Yes, those things were hell to serve in from what I've read. And as for subs like the Hunley, forget it! I wouldn't even set foot on a modern sub. I wasn't born with gills so that's nature's way of telling me I don't belong under water :P

I was on Old Ironsides once. On the third deck, I had to duck a good 6 inches to get under the beams, and I'm not that tall.

Well, I am so sorry to hear that! I guess our date for the next civilian Space-X flight is cancelled. :showoff: Humbug on gravity-bound!
Lubliner.

During my reenacting years we thought we had to create a period persona. Amongst mine was I reenacted the war of 1812...

One of the things about personas in reenacting is the date of the reenacted event stays the same, but your own age keeps increasing. So you might start off reenacting as a 30 year old in 1861, and finish up as a 67 year old in 1865
