Ranger95, gone for good?

Whenever I have a question regarding whatever regiment or battery, I usually will go to ranger95.com, which I considered probably the best database for that sort of information.
Sadly, yesterday, I checked the site, only to see the link is now dead, with "Account Suspended" plastered in bold. I've heard that the owner hadn't updated the site in years and probably was letting it lapse.
I hope I'm wrong, and I hope that the site comes back up. If not, I guess I'll have to hope the Wayback machine still has a functioning version of it.

Thank y'all for mentioning the Wayback Machine. I am not a tech guy either and was glad this was mentioned. I punched in Ranger95 and went to July 13th 2023 archive and grabbed the below info regarding the page status. I was able to access the Confederate section and some Virginia regiments. Some info is still available, but looks like only partial. Roster's with names unavailable for what I was able to open. This page was such a wealth of info. I used it much for cross referencing for various CW and ancestry searches.

I can understand that. My "rental fee" for my website has tripled in cost over the last 3 or 4 years. I tried negotiating a reduced fee because my website is for education and research. No business nor exchange of money. I got a small break but this year I tried to find a cheaper web host. If I couldnt find one by June, I decided I would let it lapse. I could pay the bill but I wanted to use the money for other things: buy another BP gun or a CWT Muster tour.
I talked to my buddies and they encouraged me when they said my website is very useful to them and contributed.
However, I still prefer to spend my money wisely and find a cheaper host. No frills such as e-mails nor money transactions. Just a simple website.
Does anyone know of a good web hosting site??
You are paying for someone else to buy and configure the server, pay the electricity to run in all year, security software and the time the hoster spends doing all the above (and being available to answer questions and fix problems). I am sure CWT himself could give you several more reasons for charging for people to use hosting services. (Heard about inflation, too?)

I have been using wayback machine to use it, which I do frequently. It loads a little slower and there are a few gaps but the Georgia files that I use almost exclusively seems to be all there.
It's such a shame because it's a waste to not carry on the site. I've spoken to the man who ran it and he said he was gonna give it to the Daughters of Union Soldiers but I haven't seen any of it displayed by them.

I mirrored the site before it was removed and use it off-line for my own research. I do not know who the owner was, and I do not have permission to repost it on my site at researchonline.net, but if you need a lookup, drop me a note.

Skystra. $14 a month. Immediate customer care for any issue which arises. I couldn't be happier. I know there's cheaper out there. I started with SiteGround, a company so bad it almost ruined my entire project, after 4 freaking years of research, writing, planning, of posting on 160 years to the day my gfather wrote each of his diary entries. Try em. Tell em Jacksons Valley sent you 😃

Btw, I sell nothing, leave comments off, & it's all just for education/nonprofit purposes. Yes, I, like anyone, have to renew my domain name once per year, otherwise I lose my name. It's not much $. Imagine my shock as a non- tech nor Civil War person when I saw no one had ever snatched mine up.

Wow!! I didn't think Google would find it but it finally pulled it up. This sounds great as they offer to help with the transfer. I wonder if they have a person who I could explain the details.
Mind if I send you a Conversation message as I want to see your website.

It mentions iCloud a lot. Just want to make sure this is a real web hosting site.

https://skystra.com/. I don't even know what iCloud is. I was really worried about transferring the mess I had from SiteGround to Skystra, but they not only made it seamless, they told me exactly where SiteGround had messed my site up, then FIXED IT.

ICloud is where you backup your files: data, photos, etc.
I wanted to make sure this does work as a web host. I also want to know if it retains my Domain Name and if I pay them to renew the Domain Name each year.

I sent you a Message.
Oh, the Cloud. Of course.

I show no msgs. Are you sure you sent something?

Yes, Skystra is a web hosting service. I created my website using WordPress. Yes, I retain my domain name by paying Skystra, who bills me to renew it every December. They give plenty of notice. I pay a few extra bucks so my home address doesn't show up if anyone searches me under WHOIS.

Let me know what other Qs you have. I'd never heard of this company & only found them bc when things went so wrong with SiteGround, I tweeted a quasi-suicidal msg asking the universe for help 😅 & they answered. I thought great, just what I need, a scammer right now, but they seemed legit. I sent em an email outlining my plight, that I was OLD, & had no one who knows a thing about the Internet. They totally walked me through everything. I was able to get the website up & running on time. It's been seamless since. I'll admit I have put countless hours in on my own tweaking my website, as well.

Last, yes, they send me a backup email each night of my website.
