Whenever I have a question regarding whatever regiment or battery, I usually will go to ranger95.com, which I considered probably the best database for that sort of information.
Sadly, yesterday, I checked the site, only to see the link is now dead, with "Account Suspended" plastered in bold. I've heard that the owner hadn't updated the site in years and probably was letting it lapse.
I hope I'm wrong, and I hope that the site comes back up. If not, I guess I'll have to hope the Wayback machine still has a functioning version of it.

I commented on another thread, it went down a couple weeks ago. I also had used it to cross reference with other sources. It had been a good site for a long time. Maybe it will pop back up 🤞🏼

Who here is good at internet-ing? We can't risk this information being lost. Is there a way to download the pages into a database or something?
If the site is down... Chances are, that's unlikely. Perhaps if any links to specific pages can be found (not just the main page), you might be able to.

I'm not a techie, so take me with a pinch of salt.

I can understand that. My "rental fee" for my website has tripled in cost over the last 3 or 4 years. I tried negotiating a reduced fee because my website is for education and research. No business nor exchange of money. I got a small break but this year I tried to find a cheaper web host. If I couldnt find one by June, I decided I would let it lapse. I could pay the bill but I wanted to use the money for other things: buy another BP gun or a CWT Muster tour.
I talked to my buddies and they encouraged me when they said my website is very useful to them and contributed.
However, I still prefer to spend my money wisely and find a cheaper host. No frills such as e-mails nor money transactions. Just a simple website.
Does anyone know of a good web hosting site??

Wix is free, and highly rated. I used to use it forever and a decade ago.
Might suit your needs.

I use Google Sites, also free. Its been a while since I updated it but it was pretty easy to edit. My site is linked in my signature.

I checked out their main page and went to the Pricing menu. It had a variety of prices for different business models. The cheapest, they call Light business, is $17/mo which comes out to $204, I guess.

@Chattahooch33 -- I only recently got a Google login. I wanted to see what they offered and if it was free. Years ago, I began a simple website on AOL. They offered 2MB for each person's logon ID. That was increased to 10MB. They also gave you 5 user ID's so I created a complex website that linked between 3 ID names. That was before a registered a name for my website.

I wasn't aware that they had a pricing platform... Odd, perhaps things have changed.

It would be awesome if there was a way to get ranger95 going again. I do see that when I click on a the company or surname list in a regiment, it says the information "has not been archived." Does this mean there is no way anywhere to find it?

The Wayback Machine only captures "photos" of various pages a web site. It doesn't image the entire site. So unless the web site comes back online it's likely gone.

Not much disappears on the internet forever. They are indeed archived if you have the patience to search for them. I was just looking up a unit a few days ago.
Well my bill came due in June for the Web Host for my webpage. I searched for a cheaper host. Some may not know this but you have to rent space from someone to host your data. Then you have to pay a minimum fee for retaining ownership of your website name.
I looked around at the most popular web hosts and they werent any cheaper.
I announced to a related FB Group that I will have to shut it down. I was encouraged by the response by people who said they used it quite often. One said he would open a GoFundMe for it. I soon had 2/3 of the money raised.

Im still looking for a better host. I dont need all the frills such as email accounts, business transactions and add-ons that likely raises the cost. I wonder if my site a ".org" instead of a ".com" would be cheaper.
Also looking for a starving student who wants to help edit my pages which are full of typos—- not from my typing but from scanning documents into text.
