I recently acquired an old unknown socket bayonet which, having found some marks after removing some old paint and having researched it a bit, I think is a Belgian 1841 pattern. I have seen it stated in 1 or 2 places that a lot of these were supplied for use in the Civil War.
It is hard to find good information on which muskets or rifle-muskets these bayonets were used with. One source says they were designed for use with M1841 and M1853 muskets, presumably these were Belgian pattern muskets. If anyone knows anything about these bayonets I would be grateful for any information.
