Charles M. Blake lived life to the fullest from Preacher to U.S. Army Chaplain to Captain of 3rd. U.S. Colored troops to Doctor to Newspaper editor and raise a family of prominent doctors. Charles was wounded in the head which affected him the rest of his life at Fort Wagner . I found this CDV at an antique store for 50 cents and have had so far a couple hours of fun researching him. Any Fort Wagner experts out there ? I would like to find out the roll of the 3rd. USCT had in this battle. Thankyou.

Sometimes its better to be lucky than good lol I have found several GAR photos this way as many people have no idea what the veterans badge is. When we go to antique stores they usually have a box of photos someplace and every once in awhile I get lucky . Years ago I started picking up anything $1.00 or less that had a uniform so now I have bunch of CDV's soldiers from Europe US cadets and WW1 . The fun of the hunt ! My favorite CDV is a German soldier with a cigar in one hand and his regimental stein in the other .
