Powder flask identification

I have been trying to find information on this powder flask for quite a while, but without avail. There are elements of it that are reminiscent of Colt, but I have seen nothing on the web that has the fluting with the eagle. It is heavy, more so than others I have handled and I am wondering if it is perhaps a reproduction or a more modern creation? It is about 6.75" in length and there are no distinguishing markings. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hello, Claire, and welcome to CivilWarTalk.

Our members can better help if you post some photos of the item. The link you provided did not work for me. Thanks.

Welcome from PA!

Looks like your link is behind the facebook firewall and only accessible to the facebook users that allowed to see it. Maybe right click on the image itself and select either a. "copy image URL" or b "View image" and copy the URL of the image in the navigation bar and paste it here.

Look forward looking at your flask.

Good morning everyone! Thank you for all of your responses and I apologize for the delay getting the image up. Being so new, I was not granted privileges until this morning. Here is the image.

May I ask where you found it? It is really strange, because the motif looks a lot like the Great Seal, but it has stars on the shield (and 12 of them) and the numbers of the olives in the branch and of the arrows are wrong. They should be 13.

Are there any marks, letters etc?

Excellent question! Unfortunately, I know very little about how it came into our hands. The original owner wrote the name of the gentleman he received it from right on it, and the original owner passed away in 1963 and lived in Michigan. The eagle is on both sides, but I saw no letters or marks of any kind. The finish on the fluting in a little rough too.

Thank you everyone! Looks like the consensus is reproduction. Appreciate you all taking the time.
