I came across this Pocket Bible in my father in laws belongings and its in darn near mint condition. Could anyone help verify authenticity?

Where did that fat pointed pen come from that Bidwell signed his name with? Did they have Sharpies or Magic Markers back then?
It (the pen)was probably used more than the Bible was from the looks of it!! Were they still using feather Quills then?
