I came across this Pocket Bible in my father in laws belongings and its in darn near mint condition. Could anyone help verify authenticity?

It (the pen)was probably used more than the Bible was from the looks of it!! Were they still using feather Quills then?

Welcome, enjoy. In the condition it is in I don't think it ever left the house. Surely not in a soldiers pocket or haversack. Even the gold print on cover is pristine.

I suspect Bible is a reprint. The signature has already been discussed.

Ron Bidwell was (is?) a reenactor who portrays a Confederate chaplain. The chaplains of the 34th North Carolina were James Erwin and Augustus Bennick.

and I looked up the chaplains and saw those names as well...which is why I initially started questioning it!
