I found a civil war era Colt pocket revolver (1862-1863). I had high hopes of it being an original finish… but after the pics… I don't think the finish looks correct. The finish looks grayish blue… or am I wrong? The cylinder looks completely smooth … which is another reason I believe it looks refinish (Maybe sanded or buffed?) I would thing there would be some remnant of the stagecoach scene. I'm making this post to see if the forum agrees with my assessment. Asking price is at $1,000…

A Colt letter is being sold with this piece from 1967. Funny, the price for a historical background from Colt back in 1967 was $6.00! It's a bit more these days… $150-$200?

Not rare, not worth $1000. Furthermore, it doesn't even have a front sight. The wedge looks "dubious". Grips have been eaten by termites/bugs. Various Colt markings are faint or missing. Many other things to comment upon if we had more pics. Walk away from this. There are soooooooo many 1849s available online at retailers, and at auctions. 350,000 were made...the highest production of any of the Colt percussion guns, by far.
