Hello
I am new to this site and was hoping that I could get some information on this buckle. It was found in Maine around an old homestead foundation. I have found this and old bone, shell buttons. Horse rack and household items. Coins like lg. Cents 1815 - 1910 v nickel.
The buckle has six and three canon ball's. I assume that it is artillery and an officers. I have seen similar ones with fourteen and six. Anything would be great.

From the photos it looks like a Militia plate used from 1820 - 1840.

Thanks everyone for the help.
Is there a purpose for the variations in the numbers of cannon balls on what seem to be the same era of buckle.
thanks

No they are just different die patterns.
