Photosphere - Burnside's bridge

That's awesome, thanks for sharing! The headless guy in the white shirt, (by the lady in the blue shirt), is kind of funny though... does that happen because he moved while you were taking the image?

I just started playing with Photosphere on my tablet about two weeks ago. Basically you take a picture and it lights up a series of blue dots of additional shots that need to be taken. You keep moving around/up/down until you get all of the dots. When they are done the phone/tablet will stitch them together into a photosphere. With people, if they are pretty close, you may need to take 2-3 images to get all of them in. If they move between the shots then you can end up with headless/missing torso, etc. I did some at my sister-in-law at Christmas and got her feet and no head. Kind of funny, but the rest of the room looks great.

Note, you can click on the opposite side of the creek to see what it was like from the Confederate side if you like.

All very cool...!! Tried the opposite creek too and that's incredible...!!

Ok, you've really got me interested with how you can move locations like that... is Photosphere an app that can be downloaded to any phone or tablet...?

You need Google Camera. Photosphere is a feature in the camera. If you have an Android camera/tablet you may already have it. My Android tablet had it already, but my wife's Galaxy phone had some other camera software and I had to load this as a separate app. It is also available for iPhone, but I don't know all of the features, I assume they are the same as the Android versions.

Ok, thanks... I have Android/Galaxy stuff so will look into it... Again, awesome pic of Burnside's bridge...!

Have a look at some of the others. The Burnside bridge seems to only have two, but some of the other ones have dozens and if you back out to the street view you can find a map showing the available images. The ones of Ford's Theatre/Peterson let you move all over and the one of Fort Sumter you can go almost anywhere in the fort, so fun!

Looks like it might be easier with the Google Street View app found here. It allows you to explore photospheres and take and upload them as well.

The photosphere within Google camera works the same way, but looks like my WIFI tablet does not support taking pictures, but would allow me to import ones I took from Google Camera and the upload them.

#3 is the most incredible photo of the bridge I have ever seen. Thank you for sharing. This is the best photo I've ever managed, with very little effort as you can see. Awesome Job Civilwarincolor.
