Santa Anna's Wooden leg.

G.A.Custer owned Santa Anna's spurs (?), I heard that somewhere...don't remember why, maybe a present received in Texas...

I would say the four men in the CDV's were all in the cavalry. The first three images were taken in PA. The last D.C. I suspect the first man is an ordnance sergeant of Cavalry, although it could be infantry. He is wearing a state coat or shell jacket with the collar down to show his tie. The kepi/forage cap gives few clues. The officer I cannot tell you much, he appears cavalry, given the light color of the shoulder boards. They are not dark. He is wearing gauntlets, and you cannot see his sword clearly. he is wearing a frock coat and carrying a forage cap.
The third many is wearing a sack coat, with it's collar down. He is wearing a waist belt with a sword belt plate. Light chevrons, suggesting cavalry. The last man's image was taken at Geisboro (The Cavalry Depot in D.C.) I think he is wearing state coat of some sort. It is somewhat I'ded on the back. They images are all CDV's, late war. All Cavalry from the general appearances. I just don't know the differences in state coats.

Sorry, no name in the album. Here is the Santa Ana and a few others that were in the album. I believe the guy in top hat was a ring master. Looks like anyway! Also, the one labeled Col Gup. Is that Joshua James Guppy? I cannot find a picture of him to compare to.

Never seen a Barnum Native American CDV before, that is pretty interesting. I also love the Major Atom and Santa Ana ones.

Been a while since I have visited. I have picked up an album that a little girl in the 1860's - 1870's collected Circus and Military photos. There is a P.T. Barnum Indian, General Santa Anna, Col. Gup, General Rosecrans, Admiral Dot, General Tom Thumb and a number of others like stage actress, etc. Here is some of the military I cannot ID. She collected them I assume because they were famous or maybe they were relatives. Don't know, but thought I would run them by you to see if anyone jumps out to you.

The location of where the photographer listed his address on the last one is quite interesting because Giesboro in DC was the location of a large cavalry depot with thousands of horses: http://civilwarwashingtondc1861-186.../geisborough-point-cavalry-depot-parking.html

Never seen heard of that photographer before either.

Actually light chevrons would indicate Infantry. Yellow and red appear dark in wetplate photographs. See attached.

I figured one of them out. The one that was labeled Col. Gup is actually Breveted Brigadier & Major General Colonel Henry Ruhl Guss Commanding Officer of the Pennsylvania 97th Infantry. Since the album contained all famous people, Circus Folk, Stage Actress, Possible Black Abolitionist, etc. then that means the Seargent and the Officer with the sword have to of had some fame or gallantry in the military. So I will keep researching!!!

Also, the guy that is seated and labeled grandfather turtboll soldier in 1812 actually came from an album of the Blackman, Tourtelot, Morehouse family album. So I figured out, that it was HIS grandfather Tourtellot who served in war of 1812. So I have his name, I just have to do some research to see which of his grandsons was in the Civil War. Almost all in the album were id'd, except this and a couple of other. Shouldn't be too hard to figure out which one this guy is.
