Been a while since I have visited. I have picked up an album that a little girl in the 1860's - 1870's collected Circus and Military photos. There is a P.T. Barnum Indian, General Santa Anna, Col. Gup, General Rosecrans, Admiral Dot, General Tom Thumb and a number of others like stage actress, etc. Here is some of the military I cannot ID. She collected them I assume because they were famous or maybe they were relatives. Don't know, but thought I would run them by you to see if anyone jumps out to you.

Welcome Back From THE Heart Of Dixie. Be sure to stop by the Weapons & Ammo and the Uniforms & Relics forum. I don't recognize anyone either.

Thanks. Nothing like shown in the movies is he?

If you ever go through Huntsville, Texas...go to the Sam Houston Museum! It includes a uniform of Santa Anna's (he was a little bitty dude...think skinny, short 6th grader), some of his tack (with a gold Aztec sun symbol on the breast collar) and of course, much, much more about Sam and his family, including the bible his son was carrying in the Civil War, complete with a bullet hole...

The grounds have several buildings Sam lived in, etc...and it can take even a speed demon like myself a long time to look at all the exhibits. It's a beautiful building and site. Huntsville was the home of Thomas Jewett Goree, who was Longstreet's aide, became the head of the Texas Prison System, and is buried in the same cemetery as Sam and Margaret Lea Houston. The library at Sam Houston includes one of my favorite places for Civil War Texas research....and I am a very proud alumni, trying to at least get my granddaughter to go there if she's not going to....yeah.

I don't know about the eye, but I have seen Santa Anna's wooden leg at the Illinois State Military Museum in Springfield, Ill. I would say several of these can be identified. The first was taken in PA, and he is wearing a nice shell jacket, I think he was a QM sergeant. It also has some writing on the back. The last one is i'd to an extent, we know his last name, and where it was taken, and he might have been in the Cavalry.

I meant the last guy in the OP, not Santa Anna - I see where the confusion happened. Sorry. The one preceding the label "grandfather ?? soldier in 1812". Confused on that label too.

Do you know anything about the 'little girl'? Surname? Anything that might help identify these gentlemen....
